50 Year Anniversary of Wellington Airport

Today was the 50th Anniversary of Wellington Airport and me and Nolan decided to check it out ! We both love airplanes and our house looks out over the airport. Airplane in Maori is "wakaririrangi"and in dutch "vliegtuig", wonder which one Nolan will say first... It was a beautiful sunny day with light clouds and (a small wonder) hardly any wind !

On our way to the Airport we were greeted by this Harvard plane , Nolan didnt quite know what to think of it and was a bit scared when it swooped down low and flew directly above us. The Harvard is part of The RNZAF’s Ohake-based Historic Flight.

In the terminal it was one big party and lots to see and do !

One of Peter Jackson's toys i believe..

The legendary Huey helicopter ! Awesome to see one up close, a true classic in the sky !

Up close with the Harvard plane.

Helicopter winching and water spraying trucks , Nolan loved it !

The Harvard going for another spin !

Woohaa !

Here he is doing a 'burnout' , rapidly turning the plane with the smokebombs on , looks like a car doing a burnout , maybe the best photo i have ever taken , please click to enlarge !

We love the Huey!

Things you cant take on an airplane...

Wellingtons finest: The Real Hot Bitches !

View of the airport from our street... yes it was quite a walk back but what a great day it was !
Happy birthday Wellington Airport, we enjoyed the party !

Wellington Phoenix FC vs Gold Coast United FC 6 - 0 !!!

Wellington Phoenix FC vs Gold Coast United FC

Katies dad got given some free tickets to the Wellington Phoenix football club match against the australian Gold Coast United at the Westpac arena in Wellington also known as 'the caketin' (its perfectly round and metal on the outside). So after an exciting trip with dad on the back of my wee honda we picked up brother Gareth and headed to the stadium. Dad had seen many rugby matches at the stadium but this was his first football match ever. And what a match it was... a well deserved 1 - 0 for the Phoenix at halftime and in the second half all hell broke loose and the Phoenix added 5 more goals to make it 6 - 0 !!! The atmosphere and the crowd was fantastic, we had an awesome time and have all become Phoenix supporters, it was a great day to be a Wellingtonian ! Tell you what..! We will be there for the next home game , Phoenix all the way !!!

We love you Phoenix , we do , we love you Phoenix , we DOOOO !! :)

The pics:
